CharACTers Children's Theatre proudly announces Auditions for

The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley JR!

Directed by Santana McKinney-Carlton

Auditions Dates:
July 25th and 26th, 6-8pm.
Please arrive 15 mins early in order to fill out your paperwork.
Makeup auditions are available upon request if notified by July 24th. 
Callbacks are currently scheduled on July 28th at 6pm, if needed.

All auditions will be held at Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center,

Rehearsals begin August 8th.
Rehearsals are flexible so not everyone will rehearse every week.

SHOW RATED G! All performers must be between the ages of 5-18! 

Things to prepare:
Those wishing to audition need to prepare to sing a song that is a similar style to the show. 
Preferred songs are Broadway style show tunes or Disney songs. 
Singing a song a capella is preferred, but those who would like to bring a cd are allowed. 
Please limit your song selection to be no longer than 30 seconds.
Auditionees are encouraged to choose a song that truly shows off their vocal capabilities. 
It is also highly encouraged that auditionees are prepared to act out their song as they are singing it. 
Auditionees should also be prepared for a movement section of the audition.
A short, easy movement dance will be taught at the end of the vocal audition. Not everyone will need to participate in this part of the audition. 

Needed:

The beloved children's book written by Jeff Brown is a literary and pop cultural phenomenon, delighting readers all around the world. And now, everyone's favorite two-dimensional hero has a new life in The Musical Adventures Of Flat Stanley JR. Filled with infectious songs and non-stop adventure, Flat Stanley JR. is a perfect show to introduce young performers to the magic of live theatre.
Stanley Lambchop is your ordinary, everyday ten-year-old until the bulletin board on the wall above his bed comes loose and falls right on top of him. The next morning, Stanley wakes up flat. In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley – the ultimate exchange student – scours the globe for a solution to his unusual problem. He's stamped, posted and cancelled from Hollywood and France to Honolulu and beyond, all in an effort to become a three-dimensional boy once more.
​ Stanley’s journey takes him all across the globe, to many interesting locales, filled with lots of colorful characters!

STANLEY
Stanley is a boy who wants to do "amazing things the world has never seen before." Looking for an actor who is charming and highly likable with a solid voice and acting chops. It is also helpful if the actor has good control over his body.

ARTHUR
Arthur is Stanley's little brother. He's very serious about school and follows the rules. He has a few solo lines and a short ballad. Arthur also delivers a very funny monologue, so this actor needs great comedic timing.

MR. LAMPCHOP
Mr. Lambchop is Stanley's Dad. He should come across as gently authoritative and likable. He is required to sing well.

Mrs. Lambchop is Stanley's Mom. She is smart and definitely in control. Mrs. Lambchop has several solos and is required to sing well.

CALEB, JACKSON, JACOB, AND COUSIN SOPHIE
These kids are all slumber party guests. All of these characters have spoken lines or vocal solos and should have strong voices.

BULLETIN BOARD
Bulletin Board is a magical creature, like the tooth fairy, who grants kids' wishes but with a little twist. Looking for a character actor/actress who is funny and can be a little goofy. Should be able to sing reasonably well and carry a solo.

MRS. CARTERO
Mrs. Cartero is a sassy postal worker. She is fun-loving and extremely likable. She should have a strong singing and speaking voice and must be able to drive the energy of her scenes.

DOCTOR DAN
Doctor Dan is a hard-of-hearing, overworked Doctor. This is a non-singing role, perfect for the class clown but doesn't really sing. As long as the actor (or actress) is funny and loud, he or she will be successful in this role.

NURSE BETTY
Nurse Betty is the long-suffering assistant to Doctor Dan. This non-solo singing role is a great place to feature an actress who has great stage presence and has fun with their character.

COOL KIDSThe Cool Kids are the kids who fly Stanley like a kite.

KING OF THE COOL KIDS
King of the Cool Kids is the ringleader of the cool kids.

BIRDS
The Birds are Stanley's singing bird friends. The Birds should be strong female singers who can handle harmony. Also, it's helpful if they are good dancers or at least graceful movers.

Hollywood Agent is a slick, old-style agent. This role can be successfully played by either a male or female performer. Looking for someone with a strong voice capable of carrying a solo. This is a perfect role for someone who is naturally funny with a big voice.

The Hollywood Assistants are the funny assistants to the Hollywood Agent.

Passerbys and Wannabes are various folks who live in Los Angeles. Decent dancers and singers needed for these roles.

Samantha is Stanley's friend who moved to Los Angeles. This non-solo singing role is a great feature for an actress who is highly likable, sweet, and can share a quiet and touching scene with Stanley.

O. JAY D'ART
O. Jay D'art is the curator for the Louvre museum. This non-solo singing role is a fantastic featured part for a male or female performer who is funny and can create a character that is bigger than life.

MONA LISA
Mona Lisa is Leonardo da Vinci's painting come to life. This is a non-solo singing role and a nice feature for an actress who can create a strong character. It's also helpful if the actress can affect an Italian accent.

NAPOLEON
Napoleon is Jacques-Louis David's painting come to life. This is a non-solo singing role and perfect feature for an actor who can create a strong character and affect a French accent.

Sneak Thief is a world-class art burglar. This non-solo singing role is perfect for the smallest person in the cast, as it creates a great comic affect. It is also a great role for a younger performer who's not afraid to be goofy.
